BMC Malaysia Schools 2017 officially endorsed by Ministry of Education Malaysia

On behalf of the organising committee, we are pleased to announce that 'The 1st Benedict Goh Malaysia Schools Mathematics Championship 2017' is approved, officially endorsed and supported by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia, KPM).

Therefore, all competitors are then able to gain extra co-curriculum marks by participating in this national level competition. In addition, participants may also include the championship certificates issued by us in their school portfolio to strengthen their application for universities and scholarships.

The ‘Malaysian Grand Master of Mathematics’ titles are recognized worldwide and the certificate which carries the special title is suitable to be used for further study application.

The Endorsement of the BMC Contest Certificates

All the BMC Certificate is endorsed by our Ratification & Awards Committee. The founder of Benedict Goh Mathematics Championships (BMC), Mr. Benedict Goh Kah Hong heads the committee and will be the main signatory for all certificates.

In order to ensure that the certification is valid and genuine, all the BMC Certificates will be numbered and personally signed by the founder. They will be listed publicly on our official website as well. The logo of BMC will be printed on the certificates. Since the competition is officially endorsed by the Ministry of Education Malaysia, their logo will be printed on it as well. In addition, our certificates will be signed by another top officer or the representative of the Ministry of Education to ensure authenticity.

Therefore, it is suitable to include the championship certificates issued by us in student’s school portfolio to strengthen their application for further studies, universities and scholarships.

The above matter refers. This is an official invitation for the students from your school to participate in 'The 1st Benedict Goh Malaysia Schools Mathematics Championship 2017', one of the greatest tests of Mathematics in Malaysia.

With the awareness that mathematics is a knowledge that can be learned and can be used in a wide variety of ways, there’s a phenomenal increase in the participation of mathematics championships in Malaysia.

We believe that this championship is one of the best opportunities for your students to apply their knowledge in Mathematics that they have learned from the classroom and to stimulate interest in mathematics among your students.

Besides, since our championship is officially endorsed by the Ministry of Education Malaysia, all competitors are then able to gain extra co-curriculum marks by participating in this national level competition. In addition, participants may also include the championship certificates issued by us in their school portfolio to strengthen their application for universities and scholarships.

Date: 19th to 23rd of June, 2017

Registration: 10th of April to 10th of May, 2017

Venue: The competition will be held at each participating schools.

Format: 25 problem solving questions, to be answered in 90 minutes

Fees: RM 30.00 per participant

Eligibility: Open to all the primary and secondary school students in Malaysia

To get more information and to register, please find the documents attached together with this invitation letter, which includes the details of the championship, competition registration form and a copy of the endorsement letter from Ministry of Education Malaysia.

• Notice for Teacher-In-Charge: This championship is recognised by the Ministry of Education Malaysia as a State Level competition. All the gold medalists, silver medalists and bronze medalists have obtained a State Level achievement. Their participation should be recorded as State Level and they will obtain a State Level co-curricular marks. However, other participants of the championship will get School Level marks only for their participation in this co-curricular activity. Please note that the co-curricular marks can only be filled in by the teacher-in-charge for their students.

Announcement: BMC Malaysia Schools 2017

We intend to host the first Benedict Goh Malaysia Schools Mathematics Championship in 2017. We have set June as a target month and would now like to invite prospective participants to register as a competitor. We will send official invitation letter or email to all the schools in Malaysia by the mid of April, 2017. If your school has a proven track record as a mathematics competition winner, then we would love to hear from you.

The competition is open to all the students from Year 1 to Form 6 in Malaysia. We hope and expect to receive a tremendous response from schools, parents and students on this excited opportunity. We believe that this championship is one of the best opportunities for your students to apply their knowledge of Mathematics that they have learned in the classroom. We also hope that this championship can stimulate interest in mathematics among the youngsters.

Benedict Goh Mathematics Championships Announcement Letter

Dear friends,

Change is in the air in the world of competitive mathematics games. A few weeks ago, we published our Open Letter and the support we have received has been absolutely tremendous. In the weeks since then, and for months before, we have been preparing what many of us have been dreaming of for a very long time: a world-class mathematics competition that acts as a platform for students to compete internationally. Today, we would like to announce the launch of the BMC: the Benedict Goh Mathematics Championships.

We will be kicking off our movement with 'The 1st Benedict Goh Malaysia Schools Mathematics Championship 2017'. It is the very first event organised by us under the BMC Worldwide banner. The competition will be held in this coming June. Further information such as the format of the contest, venue, time and registration fee will be announced in this website soon. Registration will be opened from now until the mid of May, 2017. Due to logistical problem, numbers will be restricted. First come first served! As there is a big demand for places, early booking is essential. This is the first BMC competition and we will make this happen in the best possible way.

The BMC will soon publish its own homepage with a tournament calendar and further information about who we are and what we do. People who agree with our aims can ask to be mentioned on the homepage as supporters. We will also keep you updated regularly—here and on other sites—about the progress of the BMC so that you can see it growing and gaining traction for yourself.

We will experiment with new competition formats. We see a world where competitors have a real say in the evolution of competitive mathematics games, which will therefore grow, develop and change along with all of us. We see a world of opportunity. We believe in the true and deserved future of this game. We believe in its freedom. Most importantly, we believe in you and your rights as athletes, arbiters and organisers.

In order to improve the mathematics knowledge and problem-solving skills of students, we will introduce and provide a mathematics education program. In addition, we will organize a Licensed Instructor of Mathematics Certification Course, so that teachers are trained to teach and to coach competitors. We also give away license of forming international, national, regional, local and school mathematics clubs. The application terms will be announced soon.

If you are new to the competitive mathematics games, you have come to the right place. The BMC is here: We invite everybody to join us and participate in the democratic process of improving the game. We invite everybody to approach us, to write to us, to ask us all about it. We invite everybody to see this with an open mind: We would love to have your support as we embark on this exciting new endeavour as the Benedict Goh Mathematics Championships, the BMC.
