Announcement: BMC Malaysia Schools 2023

Dear principals, teachers, parents and students,

We would like to announce that 'The 6th Benedict Goh Malaysia Schools Mathematics Championship 2023' will be hosted by the Benedict Goh Mathematics Championships Malaysia Secretariat from 8 August 2023 (Tuesday) until 13 August 2023 (Sunday). The registration opens until 10 July 2023 (Monday) and we would like to invite all the primary and secondary school students in Malaysia who love mathematics to participate in this upcoming mathematics championship.

The Benedict Goh Malaysia Schools Mathematics Championships is a mathematics competition that held annually since 2017, with the exception of 2020. The main objective of the championship is to spark an interest in mathematics among the school students by presenting them with interesting mathematical problems. At the same time, the championship also aims at popularising the beauty of mathematics among the young people. Therefore, this championship is open to all the primary school, secondary school and pre-university students in Malaysia, and each school can send as many participants as desired.

‘The 6th Benedict Goh Malaysia Schools Mathematics Championship 2023’ will be back to face-to-face at school. Paper-based championship (with online submission of answers by students after the competition) will be held face-to-face at school from 8th to 11th of August, 2023. However, fully online championship at home of each participant or any other suitable venue is also available on both the 12th of August, 2023 (primary school) and the 13th of August, 2023 (secondary school). Each participating school is free to choose any one and only one mode of the championship.

We have been preparing for this championship for a few months. We believe that this event is what many of us have been dreaming of for a very long time: a mathematics championship that serves as a platform for all the primary and secondary school students to compete with participants from different regions of Malaysia. We hope to receive a tremendous response from schools, parents and students around Malaysia.

Some important championship details that you need to know are as the following:

Please note that all the students who wish to participate in this mathematics championship must have a device (e.g. laptop, computer, smartphone, tablet) and an Internet connection. Even for paper-based mode competition at school, devices and Internet connection are also required, because the students will need to submit their answers online after the 1 hour 30 minutes competition time.

The organiser will provide awards such as medals and certificates for the winners of the competition. Each participant will receive a printed certificate of participation. The logo of the Benedict Goh Mathematics Championships will be printed on all the certificates issued by us. Participants may include the championship certificates issued by us in their school portfolio to strengthen their application for further studies, universities and scholarships.

If you are a teacher and your students are interested in joining this mathematics championship, you can download all the important documents of this event on this website. If your school joined our online championship last year, you will also receive an official invitation email soon. To register, please download and use the excel registration form provided by us. You can also visit the championship homepage here.

If you are a primary or a secondary school student in Malaysia and you love mathematics, then you are most welcome to join this competition. To register, you just need to submit the filled parent consent form and pay the registration fees to the teacher-in-charge of this competition at your school. Your teacher will then register for you.
